Brazil Fashion Week

brazil fashion weekSao Paulo Fashion Week, Latin America’s biggest fashion even, commenced on Wednesday (January16). It seems black was the favourite colour of the designers, participating in the Sao Paulo fashion week, this year.

Cori, one of the famous fashion designers and very popular name in Brazil, used black in most of his designs. His show targeted Brazilian working class women, who like to dress up for office. Black jackets, structured tops, skirts and pants, which finish above the navel, are expected to become an instant hit with the Brazilian working women.   Working women will surely love those wide belts, shoes and gold earrings. A very special gold-chain dress by Cori was appreciated most by the audiences.   This was Cori’s first show for Dudu Bertholini and Rita Comparato, who are already popular in Brazil. There other collection Neon is very popular in Brazil, but some say that both the collections are somewhat alike. Another Brazilian designer Fause Haten, who is of Lebanese descent, presented his collection, in style, on Wednesday. His show was different, as he showed two models at a time on the catwalk, one in colourful attire and one in a much darker version of the same design. His idea was loved more by the audiences than his designs. However, the shoes designed by him were fabulous. Over 10, 000 people attended the shows, presented by 40 designers, during the Sao Paulo fashion week. However, racism row casted shadow, over the otherwise fabulous, Sao Paulo fashion week.

Men’s Fashion Week Paris

men’s fashion week in ParisAfter Milan, it is now the turn of Paris to host the Men’s fashion week. The most unusual show was presented by the young designer Kris Van Assche during the men’s fashion week in Paris. He will also present his collection for Dior during Men’s fashion week in Paris. Assche was appointed in the place of Hedi Silmane in Dior.

Britain’s Blaak home designer duo, Sachiko Okada and Aaron Sharif, also presented their collection on Friday. The collection comprises of long shirts, which were drifting below jackets, short suits, skinny pants, top length boot and again the Scottish Tartan. The duo’s collection was mainly in black and grey. Another brilliant designer Kenzo presented his show, very dramatically, in the boxing hall of Paris stadium. The models were walking on the revolving the platform on the background theme, based on the story of the 19 th century Scottish trader who became a samurai. His collection comprises of pea coats, hunting jackets in heavy worsted wools and flannels.   Kenzo’s sports wear collection comprises of multi pocket jackets and hand painted tea-stained t-shirts.

Paris to honour Valentino

Paris to honour Valentino. The French government has decided to honour the legend and arguably the best fashion designer in the industry at the moment, Valentino. Valentino, who has announced his retirement from the fashion world after spending almost 45 years in the industry, has been showing his splendid collections since 1989 in Paris. The French government is honouring the legend by making him the honorary citizen of Paris. Valentino will be honoured at a special ceremony during the haute couture season of shows later this month. Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoe will give away the award to Valentino at the Nineteenth Century city hall in Paris. Although this is not the first award for Valentino from the French Government as the king of fashion industry has also been awarded the Legion d’Honneur by the French Government in July 2006. Valentino obviously is happy with the news. Valentino is scheduled to show his last Haute Coutre collection in January in Paris. Valentino is popular between the fashion critique and enthusiasts because of his beautiful designs. Valentino never did any weird experiments with his designs. His motto has always been to make beautiful clothes which he did with dedication. Hollywood actress and celebrities mostly choose to wear a Valentino to important award ceremonies like Oscars and play it safe instead of experimenting with the new designers. Julia Roberts also wore a Valentino when she received an Oscar for best actress in 2001. It seems for Hollywood Fashion industry means Valentino; he even made a very small appearance in a recent fashion centric movie Devil Wears Prada.    What will fashion industry do with out Valentino?

Dolce & Gabbana present Bundchen

Gisele BundchenWell Supermodel Gisele proved that she is the friends of her friends as she agrees to design a line for her old designer friends Dolce and Gabana. Gisele Bundchen will not be the first designer to enter in the designer’s arena. She is no doubt one of the top models in the industry these days and therefore her line will be something to watch out for.

The Brazilian model will launch her ready to wear collection in spring by the name of the Bundchen by Dolce and Gabbana. It is believed that Gisele Bundchen agreed to design her line because she is great friends with Dolce and Gabbana. She is not only a brand ambassador for the Dolce & Gabbana’s fragrance “The One” but also walks the ramp for duo’s fashion show from time to time. Gisele has known to be turned down many offers of designing her line prior to this. The 27 year model is said to have a good business mind along with good fashion sense. She was the first model in the industry to demand her pays in strong Euro then week Dollars. And if she has decided to design her signature line for Dolce and Gabbana, which is an excellent decision, she is got to be business minded as they are one of the top designers in the fashion world today. May be in future she would prefer to design her line independently, but it is just a guess. But for now Bundchen by Dolce and Gabbana for spring 2008 will be available in the selected stores.
